Lots of Yuck

March 6th, 2008 (10:11 pm)

Drew was in a car accident last night. The lights were out at the intersection, the cop said it was no-fault. Nothing serious, the doctor pronounced Drew to be in fine condition, but his poor car is a little sadder then it could be. It was a ridiculous evening, due to having to wait around for forever for a tow truck that never came, due to some miscommunication between cops, apparently. It figures, it's usually annoying when cops do their job, but then it becomes even worse when you actually want them to do their job, and then they don't. D'oh! Anyhow, we finally got a tow truck out there, there was some annoyance with lack of checkbook issues, but soon, at the sweet sweet 4:00 am hour, we got to sleep. Which was no good, considering Drew had 2 midterms the next day. Anyhow, hopefully tomorrow he'll talk to the mechanic people and can determine if it's worth it to fix the car or just scrap it and get a 'new' one. Well, 'new' as in 'new to him', as it's highly impractical to get an actual new car when you're in school anyhow. This is especially true considering that, in a month's time, Drew can just bike to school and work most days.

Speaking of which, the apartment stress is over, as we have a place. 2 bedroom townhousey apartment place along 195, it'll be neat to actually have a first and 2nd floor, along with a little patio with grassy bits. I'm gonna make a meager attempt to grow tomatoes and corn, if at all possible. Downside is that there aren't quite as many windows as I generally enjoy having in an apartment, but I'll manage somehow. Still good walking distance to Carytown, which is always a good thing.

That which is a bad thing, however, is this: I gave Drew a ride to school this morning, and at some point my lunchbag disappeared. It is suspected that it somehow fell out of the car as Drew was exiting, as he was in a rush to get to class and I was in a rush to get to work and get out of the way of the person behind me, combined with the fact that we were running on 3 hours sleep.

The worst part? The contents of the lunchbag: 1 corndog. 1 small canvas bag. Inside said bag, 1 mp3 player.

So that really sucks. I was partway listening to multiple things (including Wuthering Heights, which I might be better off not finishing, based on how much I dislike all the characters), and I also had a This American Life episode I'd been holding onto for months for Drew to listen to when we next took some sort of roadtrip. We searched the area later, checked with the library and the commons, and tomorrow Drew is gonna call the VCU police on the off chance someone turned it in. I know it's a slim chance at best, but I figure I should at least try. If it's stolen, I hope that person chokes on the corndog!

So, I am in the market for a new or used Sansa Sandisk 4gb mp3 player. Or something similar. Though, I prefer sticking to the Sandisk as I've sunk money into buying the chargers for it and all.

Wow, this is full of yuck. At least you and I will still be close geographically and that's all that really matters.

And nothing else matters.

Whoa. Whoa, whoa.

Nothing else matters.

:)

holy shit, I'm glad he's ok. I just saw him at VCU wednesday afternoon too, with his poofy hair a blowin' in the wind, heheh. Yey for the apartment goodness, especially the part about the patio.

Yeah, no good at all. The accident could have been so much worse though, so we're definitely happy about that!

I'm sorry about the car accident. That's true about cops working against you! That sucks about your mp3 player. I think most people would turn it in somewhere and you need a cord and software for most of them. Your new apartment sounds nice! Plant enough corn to run through. If you don't have a lot of windows then you can just spend more time on your porch or out in the yard.
