Lufthgiled!

March 3rd, 2008 (12:12 am)

Cirque du Soleil was quite delightful. We saw Saltimbanco up at some fancy-pantsy stadium in Charlottesville. We were on the side, in the 2nd row. I've never been that close to such a good live show before. I now have a strong urge to figure out how to lift my own body weight effortlessly. As well, I want to learn how to juggle again. The latter is a bit easier - back in middle school I had a bout of juggling where I mastered doing 3 balls, and had started to progress to 4. Then puberty happened, and so much for that. I never did learn to ride that unicycle, either. There had been grand plans to send me off to be in the Wenatchee Youth Circus in Washington, which my dad and uncles were in back in the day. Alas, juggling was about as far as I got, and it was just too expensive to send me out there for the summer. In summary, Cirque du Soleil was very impressive and at times quite amusing, and I thoroughly recommend seeing it in person.

Curry!

March 3rd, 2008 (10:43 pm)

Tonight, it was yellow (karee?) curry time. This involved karee curry paste, coconut milk, a dash of fish sauce, a few squirts of lime juice, gluten balls, carrot, green pepper, and basil. I was pleased with the outcome, in particular with how well gluten balls work in curry! I am now out of said gluten balls, meaning another trip to Tan-A is in the works soon. If I wasn't so addicted to drinking milk (or drowning myself in cheese, for that matter), I might be able to live at Tan-A! The owners might get cranky about that, though.

And as a quick aside, do you know what I found truly bizarre about Saturday night? Eating at a pizza place with the word 'mushroom' in it's title, with psychedelic decor all over the inside (including a 7 foot tall mushroom that we ate underneath), yet the people eating in there were some of the most white-bread people I've ever seem. Almost all looked like students, too. I've heard the rumors about UVA. I mean, I drive past there to and from various hiking destinations, and even on occasion stopped to get food, but have never really been in UVA territory before. Scary stuff!
