Interesting meme! (janked from [info]goodgothgirl)

January 6th, 2008 (03:20 pm)

This meme is from "What Privileges Do You Have?", based on an exercise about class and privilege developed by Will Barratt, Meagan Cahill, Angie Carlen, Minnette Huck, Drew Lurker, Stacy Ploskonka at Illinois Indiana State University. If you participate in this blog game, they ask that you PLEASE acknowledge their copyright.

You bold the ones that apply to you, and this gives you an idea of how much of a head start to life you had compared to others. Very interesting!

About the new and improved ptocheia.net layout!

January 6th, 2008 (11:04 pm)

It is finished!

I have a new layout up for my livejournal, and said layout is also updated at ptocheia.net. I've been working on this on and off for the past several months, and have finally gotten it all spurted out.

It took me a bit of time to crack the s2 style system, but it's not really all that different from s1, both of which are not really all that different from perl. There's still a great of extraneous code, but in due time I'll get that cleaned up. I'd also maybe like to add an area for listing tags - am debating on this, though, as I really wish the LJ update page held a dropdown that listed all of your current tags, so you could either select one already used or create a new one. Else, one is liable to have several tags all for the same concept.

The ptocheia.net version is a bit snazzier, as lj is not a fan of javascript. So it's got neat little increase/decrease font buttons, as well as an example of my recent adventures with google adsense. I'm earning, like, over a buck a week from all of my quizzes, now that most of them have ads embedded in them! Thats like 2 Subway subs a month (assuming I get the 'sub of the month')! I am strictly sticking to text only ads, however, as image and flash ads are bad for the soul. It's also css validated, but, uh, I had to slap the code around a bit before it cooperated, so I suppose I should probably make sure it still validates. D'oh!

Anyhow, I'm pleased. And the big decision is, do you think this is something that I should stick on my resume?
