8 ball truffles!

I made these for a bake-off at work:



I used this recipe, coated them in a melted chocolate chips + butter coating with some black food coloring mixed in, then topped them off with a dab of white chocolate, then icing for the 8s. They came out very tasty! The next time I attempt these I want to try mixing ingredients to make different flavors, like peanut butter and flavored liqeurs and such, and as well try out different ways of decorating them.

Didn't win bakeoff, but oh well, people still seemed to like them so all is good. Said bakeoff was combined with a chili cookoff, and I currently have a bit of leftover chili I janked sitting in the fridge. I figured that, since I'd brought about 50 of those wee truffles into work and left with 2, I was completely justified in janking some chili to enjoy later!

In other news, an exciting game of Settlers with Drew, Carolyn, and Will shall ensue tonight! Should be good times.

I finished reading The Name of the Rose, it was quite good. Now I need to finish reading the Stephen King book as my mom has been asking about it.

I'm attempting to add some text to my images on my website, but I'm using perl to do this to in theory simplify my life. All I know about perl is what I've gleaned from the internet and hacked on, via much trial and error, to preexisting scripts, so the simple (in theory, at least) task of sucking some text out of text file and plopping it by the appropriate image is proving to be more of a pain then I'd like it to be.

Today I shall finally get around to prodding at my sewing machine again. I've been putting it off as it frustrates me greatly when my objects poop out and stop working for no apparent reason. Maybe it was just in a winter depression, and the almost 60 degree weather of today will have warmed it's spirits and caused it to want to sew again. We shall see.
